The government of India has made some changes in the challan rates. The reason behind this is given that the violation of traffic rules is becoming the norm day by day. So due to less or no punishment people do not pay attention to the traffic rules. Because people do not follow traffic rules the fatalities are growing day by day. So the government decided to raise the traffic fines. The amendment in the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 came into effect on September 1, 2019. Due to this act, the old fines will be replaced by the new ones. Some state governments did not implement these rules Citing the burden on the middle class.
